The twins Diane and Audrey Bader, 24, have been trained as pianists at the Conservatoire in Strasburg and the Music Academy in Karlsruhe, Germany. They suffered from an early age from tendonitis in their hands and arms, but the specialists they consulted remained puzzled in face of the symptoms that both sisters developed simultaneously. Gradually, they lost their muscle tone, their skeleton became fragile. In fact, at age 18, they had the bone structure of women of 90 years of age. Theirs is a very rare genetic disease, no cure is available. In order to continue to play, Diane and Audrey’s life has become a permanent battle against pain. As they no longer have the strength to play works “the normal way”, they adapt it to their handicap, playing them four hands, on two pianos. By chance, they discovered the work of Canadian composer André Gagnon, whose music touched them deeply. Their dream was to meet him … and they went to see him in Quebec!
