Evita is considered "the most famous white woman in South Africa". Evita is the character invented by famous comedian and TV celebrity Pieter-Dirk Uys. “Her” bust even found a place of honour in Parliament. Through the character of Evita, he casts a jaundiced eye on contemporary South Africa while ardently defending the progress made since the coming of democracy and encouraging people to vote in the presidential elections held in April 1999.
