An exotic paradise in the Gulf of Bengal, south of Burma, the thickly forested Andaman Islands possess important natural resources. In places where no machine can pass, men and elephants contribute to the exploitation of these resources with a constant concern not to upset nature¹s order, thus ensuring the regeneration of the forest. A special bond unites the elephant and its mahout, driver, who cares for the animal until its death. They both tour the archipelago, swimming from one island to the other - not always an easy exercise!
