The territory of “Notre-Dame-des-Landes”, near the city of Nantes in France, has been a civic battle ground for decades due to plans for a much contested airport.
Many expropriated farmers had refused to leave their land. They had been joined by others who set up a collective project in alternative agriculture.
In 2018, the new government decided to abandon plans for the airport and demanded that the occupiers leave the embattled zone, known as the “ZAD”.

The human and political adventure of a group of individuals who struggle not only to reconcile their different visions of the future of their shared territory, but also with their conflictual relation with the state.
