WARNING: MAJOR CONSTRUCTION WORK! (ATTENTION GRANDS TRAVAUX!)

In France, once a planned public construction - a major project – is completed, there is no obligation for the public administration that decided on it to submit the construction to an evaluation as to its public utility, its merit and impact in real terms after completion of the works.

Therefore, in this collection, we are going on a ‘Tour de France’ of some of these public constructions in order to evaluate and assess their usefulness and their impact - in real terms – on the life of the citizens, the environment and the economy. We explore whether, and how, they changed the identity of the region and revisit the debates at the time of planning, in the light of the changes these works brought about.

Meet the women and men who put their energy into making the works come true or into fighting to prevent them! The projects in this collection have been selected for their exemplary character. They fundamentally changed the economy of a region, its social or environmental structure; they have raised strong conflicts within their region or simply because they represent a highly innovative vision of the future.
Each season of six films of 26' explores different constructions and sites in the four corners of France, all very unique in their own right. In all, five seasons of "major constructions" between 2011 and 2014...
