MAURICE RAVEL - LE BOLERO

Director(s): Stéphane AUBE – Writer(s): Stéphane AUBE   Contact Contact   Download Print page

When Maurice Ravel returned from a triumphal tour of the United States in 1928, he composed what would become his most celebrated orchestral work (and most performed the world over): THE BOLERO.

Why have audiences been seduced by this music for over 80 years? How did Ravel manage to offer his audience not just one single theme for over 15 minutes? Answering these questions is quite a challenge as the Bolero has been performed and commented upon endlessly.
In his own unique style, Jean-François Zygel brings a fresh approach to the subject and sheds new light on the style and construction of a mythical work.
