MOUNTIES, A CANADIAN TRADITION (The)

Director(s): Eric CHEBASSIER – Writer(s): Eric CHEBASSIER, Samantha VANDERSTEN   Contact Contact   Download Print page

The men and women of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) – also known as “The Mounties” – are famous the world over. Who wouldn’t recognise them in their distinct red serge jackets and the unmistakable beige hat sitting, proudly astride their black horses! How does the mounted police fit into modern society, what is their role? The Royal stables of the RCMP have opened their gates to our cameras and we discover the great tradition of the “Musical Ride”.
In the summer of 2011, the Mounties are preparing also for a very special occasion. On 1st July, the Canadian National Day, “William and Kate”, the young Royal newly-weds will be visiting and their open horse-drawn carriage will be escorted by the RCMP. An immersion into the great tradition of the Canadian Mounties!
