In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the Polynesian islands are scattered throughout a huge triangle of in between Hawaii, the Easter Islands and New Zealand.
These islands are inhabited by a single people, the Polynesians. Where did they come from? From South America – or from Asia? How could people without maps or compass colonise this vast ocean?

This mystery has always fascinated travellers. In the 20th century, many sailors and scientists of every nationality set off to solve the enigma: Eric de Bisschop, Francis Cowan, David Lewis, James Siers...
