I DREAMT I'D BE A JEDI - The Star Wars Fan Films

Director(s): Guillaume ALBERT   Contact Contact   Download Print page

The STAR WARS Saga has been the biggest success story of all times. The 1st episode as released in 1977, the last in 2005. Two generations have grown up to the sound of laser sabres.
In 1997, a 10 minute film by Kevin Rubio toured the world on the internet: “Troops” mixed the “Star Wars” universe with that of the TV series “Cops” – the first “fan film” was born. Thousands more were to be created, sometimes to near perfection.
George Lucas, a creative genius, invented the THX sound and software for virtual editing, developed special effects and 3D…permitting a wider acces to digital technology. One could say that it was in part thanks to George Lucas that his fans are today able to make movies for little cost in their living rooms!
During the last few years, Lucasfilm, in collaboration with Atomfilm website, has organised a fan-films competition. The most coveted prize is the « George Lucas selects », a fan film chosen by George Lucas himself.
I DREAMT I’D BE A JEDI” is an introduction into the fantastic universe of the “STAR WARS FAN FILMS” – many of them to rival the original!
