The son of a former Tour de France organiser, Patrick le Gall reviews the history of the cycling race from 1903 to 1996, from Anquetil to Indurain, from Coppi to Poulidor, without forgetting its coaches, groupies, stars and unsung heroes.

Previously unreleased archive footage highlights the great moments of the race, and some of its little-known aspects. The pictures bring back the excitement of the occasion, and provide a new insight into the world of cycling.
