This is the story of a society “running after one man…” Whether in business, sports of politics, they followed wherever he would lead them.
It’s the story of collective blindness – from managers to employees, from seasoned politicians to tv viewers.

This is not the portrait of Bernard Tapie, but that of the society that wanted to believe in him: what was it they needed? How did he seduce them and make them believe? What did this reveal about this society?
In the course of our investigation we went to talk to those who shared part of the way with him. Many refused to receive us: most of his former business partners, of course, but also some boastful French politicians or even those TV show hosts and presenters who contributed to his rise to fame.
The more courageous ones, those who accepted to talk to us, helped us to better understand the phenomenon that was Tapie. The film is based on interviews recorded at the time of making this film, as well as archive material.
