PIERRE BOULEZ' SEVENTH NOTATION

Director(s): Thierry-Paul BENIZEAU   Contact Contact   Download Print page

Pierre Boulez is certainly the most outstanding French composer of the post-war generation. In very simple terms, he explains the difficulties and demands of his profession. He has decided to create an orchestral work based on a series of short piano pieces, the “Notations”, presenting him with the opportunity to develop one of his earlier works. This approach is very much in line with his notion of work in progress (Boulez has often modified and developed his compositions over several years). “Notions pour Orchestre” is performed by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France conducted by Myung Whun Chung.
