The ‘Balloir’ could be just lile any other retirement home. With some forty residents of 85 or more, it might have been another sad hospice for the old and needy at the end of their lives. But the Balloir, on the banks of the river Meuse in Liège is an original place : old and young live together. Some twenty youngsters between 6 and 17 have been placed there by the juvenile protection authorities. 10-year-old Coralie has become close friends with Mariette – her senior by some 60 years .
