Ten years ago, the team of “L'oeil et la main” had been looking into the problem of deaf citizens when they are confronted with legal issues. Our reporters had followed the setting up of a legal aid office in sign language at the town hall of the 9th ‘arrondissement’ of Paris.

Today, this legal aid office no longer exists. Yet the need for assistance on the part of deaf people when dealing with the law is still as great as ever. Have the judicial institutions (police, lawyers, magistrates ...) been able to adapt their services to the problem of deafness?
