POISON D'AVRIL (SPRING FEVER)
Director(s): William KAREL – Writer(s): William KAREL, Olivier Gorce GORCE Contact Print page
We are in early March 2002, the campaign for the next presidential election in France is in full swing.
Charles is the news editor-in-chief of a major French broadcaster. The channel’s management has decided to restructure the entire news department which has been losing the audience battle to the competition.
Simone Barrachet, the “young hungry wolf” of TV news and advocate of an aggressive journalistic style of journalism, has been appointed the new head of news. He wastes no time in imposing his own brand of news reporting.
While the editorial department of the channel is being revamped, the electoral campaign topics invade all the TV screens – above all, the supposed explosion of “insecurity” in France. Even if many believe that this is a realistic tendency, journalistic professionalism would demand a more critical view... and quite rightly so!
