OF BREAD, BEER AND WINE ** - EP2

Food is not just a mirror of our societies. Food also shapes the landscape, giving it its colours and textures throughout the seasons and the centuries. What are the historical reasons for food diversity in both countries?
As we are flying over the territory, we wonder: could there be an essentially German or a typically French landscape?
Could France be called the country of wheat and Germany the country of rye?
And would France be the wine country and Germany the beer country?
Going back in history, these cliché labels no longer hold up. History paints a fluctuating map of ‘food borders’ and we discover that they are the product of a shared history.
