S1 - 07. CALIFORNIA, LISTENING TO THOSE OUT THERE
Director(s): Frédéric FEBVRE – Writer(s): Serge BRUNIER, Bruno BUCHER Contact Print page
Ever since astronomers have known that there are billions of planets in our galaxy alone and that many of them could be habitable, the search for extraterrestrial life has begun. Some search for mere traces of microbial or plant life, others hope very seriously to get in touch with civilizations far more developed than ours.
Serge Brunier travels across California, from Los Angeles to San Francisco, meeting with those who are looking for other inhabited worlds. Astrobiologists or researchers from the SETI Institute all believe in the existence of life beyond our own blue planet.
A short distance from the Silicon Valley, while setting up his high tech camera that is able to capture the light coming from far-away stars, Serge Brunier is reminded of the words of the great physicist Enrico Fermi... Faced with the silence of the sky at night, he asked himself: "But where are they...?"
