In 1609, just a little more than four centuries ago, modern astronomy was born with Galileo Galilei. He was the first to direct a telescope to the sky, and his observations changed forever how humanity relates to the cosmos.

Galileo tried to prove by all means that only the Copernican theory can explain the celestial systeme: the stars are do not remain immobile over our heads, the Earth is not a fixed object at the centre of the universe. Even today we are surprised by the incredible accuracy of the observations of this astronomer - the precision of his drawings of the moon and its craters or of Jupiter and its satellites.
From Padua to Florence via Venice, Serge Brunier will be surveying the cosmos in the footsteps of the great Tuscan astronomer.
