DRESS IN ENGLAND

They say the bowler hat still remains a favourite with gentleman and the height of style for a Brit is the total absence of a designer label on the inside of a piece of clothing.
In the county of Norfolk, female hat competitions are still major social events, while the young people from the working classes love to copy the dress style of the upper classes… but making it as provocative as possible.
In London’s famous Savile Row, the centre of male elegance, we hear that the most prestigious clients are no longer the members of the aristocracy but the traders of the City, London financial district.
And on the other end of the scale, we see how the young Brits have to wear college and school uniforms, whether they attend state or private establishments.
For a society as ‘established’ as the British, it is surprising to discover that they express their eccentricity so well in the way they dress.
