Baggagi is a traditional village in the Niger river zone of 600 souls. Two thirds are children. Director Jean-Louis Saporito first came during the famine in 2005 when he met Hadiza and her critically-ill baby girl at a nearby clinic run by ‘Médecins Sans Frontieres’. Hadiza has had 11 children, only 3 survived, common enough in Niger. Through Hadiza, he met the entire village and over 3 years, came to care for them deeply. This is their story –their struggle and deprivation, but also their joys and hopes, their great dignity. What is it really like to live in the poorest country on earth?
