America has relied on its movie industry in order to spread its sense of values… in order to educate and integrate successive waves of immigrants from different cultural backgrounds.

Hollywood brought to the screen major events, great men and mythical heroes of the American history. In a vast cinematic canvas of 10 chapters, the film explores the founding principles of the American nation, from the “Mayflower” to the 1960’s – as shown in the cinema. Two American writers,
Jim Harrison et Russel Banks, will comment on particular historic episodes and how they are illustrated in the movies.
