In France, all over the country, 6500 doctors occupy the position of a “work & employment physician”, watching over the general health of some 14 million wage earners under the national health system. In 1996, date of the last official statistics on the subject, 12 700 employees suffered from illness directly related to their jobs.
The world of employment has changed dramatically over the last decades. We wanted to find out more about the impact that recent developments in the workplace have on the workers’ health – particularly the new law on the 35 hours week in France.
The programme observes national health doctors at work in the companies, “in the field” and in the privacy of their practice.
