A long way from Mogadiscio, young Hassan Farah, herds a few heads of cattle to Yemen or Djibouti in order to sell them to ensure his own survival. We accompany him on his long journey through Northern Somalia, where the Civil War broke out. Hassan and others of his clan have doubts and questions along the way. A vision of today’s Somalia emerges… now that it is once left to its own devices after the withdrawal of US and UN forces. There is talk of survival and reconstruction, war, drought, hatred and “those others”: the Americans, the UN, armed humanitarianism and, most importantly, those from enemy tribes who refuse to pay for the spilled blood.
