Nothing is left of their past, just a few photos. And the future is uncertain. Victims of ethnic cleansing in the Kosovo, the Rraci family has found refuge in a small town in Germany on April 8th 1999. A day they will remember: glad to have escaped the Serbian threat, they are torn apart at having to leave their homeland on the Balkans. After a six-day nightmare at the camp at Blace at the Macedonian border, they are transferred to Stenkovac, another UN camp. Like hundreds of thousands of other refugees, they are exhausted, desperate. Their only hope : register on the departure lists for Germany. But once there, only one thing keeps them going : finding the trace of loved ones lost during this unbearable exodus.
