Arto Lindsay, in spite of his ‘intellectual’ appearance, is one of the foremost troublemakers of the New York scene. Figure of the underground rock of the 70’s, together with Laurie Anderson and John Zorn, he prefers the rough path to the straight line. He is driven by the need to reconcile the extremes. For the past years he has been trying to bridge the gap between New York and Bahia, between the N.Y. underground scene and the Bossa Nova. No doubt because he has been living in Brazil for over 20 years…
Where he used to go for the decibels, he now has reached musical maturity through the Brazilian influence of his childhood. A blend he concocted with Caetano Veloso in Bahia.
The camera follows him over two years, from London to New York via the Carnaval in Bahia or a Paris concert hall. From one concert and encounter to the next, we discover his music that bridges the ‘genres’…
