“A DAY IN…EUROPE” is an ambitious project, particularly at a time when European countries are tempted to look “inwards”.
This collection offers a fresh look at the modern reality of the countries of Europe. Through stunning aerial views that alternate with daily life sequences, we discover how a country functions, from sunrise to sunset, around the rhythm specific to each country and also based on its geographical and economic situation.
Each country feature doc of 90 min. is backed up by a 5 x 26’ history series, based on a thematic approach.
In order to grasp how a country functions, and to understand the forces that shape and mould its landscapes and its inhabitants, one needs to take a loftier view.
Seen from the skies, the different layers and strata that make up a country are revealed: the relief, hydrography, climate influence, landscapes, urban planning, transport networks or human activity.
In the 90' feature, all these different levels of information and interactions find their place in one single narrative that is constructed around a single day that could be considered “typical” for each country: from the early hours of the morning when the working day begins to the moment the population switches off the light and goes to sleep.
To complement and enrich the package, each 90’ feature will be accompanied by a 5 x 26’ series offering a geographical perspective on the history of each territory decrypting, as seen from above, the traces left through the ages on the landscape and its people.
