Indeed, we are in Morocco where the traditional women’s dress, the djellaba, was originally worn by men.
But for young protesters, there is nothing better than their t-shirts to express their thirst for freedom.
We go to meet the Rifians. They are Berber people who live in the Rif mountains in the north of the country and proudly wear their traditional dress.
And we learn how to recognize the ‘item’ (nothing to do with the English word “item”), the veil that is worn with the djellaba, and which is not be confused with the niqab, which is worn in the Gulf States.
